Chuck Lorre, Charles Michael Levine, born October 18, 1952, is a writer, director, producer and composer who has worked in several U.S. sitcom, including Grace Under Fire, Dharma & Greg, Two and a Half Men, The Big Bang Theory and the show of the 1980 My Secret Identity.
Lorre attended the State University of New York at Potsdam, but left college after two years. Leaving the university, he travels around the U.S. as a guitarist and songwriter.
In 1986, Lorre shifted his focus to television.
On March 12, 2009, Lorre has a star on the Walk of Fame Hollywood.
On May 17, 2009, Lorre received an honorary doctorate in Humanities at the State University of New York at Potsdam and delivered a speech at graduation.
At the end of several episodes of Dharma & Greg, Two and a Half Men, and The Big Bang Theory, Lorre includes a vanity card that usually reads like an editorial, testing, or observation of life. Because the card is displayed only for a few seconds, the viewer would probably have to read it through a video or stopping the program. Lorre Vanity Cards also publishes on its website. CBS has censored the Lorre Vanity Cards repeatedly.
